A Look Back at His Time in Philadelphia

Early Career and NHL Debut

Craig Berube was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers on March 19, 1986. He made his NHL debut on March 22, 1987, recording 16 penalty minutes in a 6-3 loss to the Washington Capitals. Berube quickly established himself as a physical presence on the Flyers' roster, becoming known for his hard-hitting style and willingness to drop the gloves.

Regular Season and Playoff Success

Over the course of his Flyers career, Berube played a total of 391 regular season games, scoring 52 goals and adding 91 assists for 143 points. He also accumulated 1,181 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, Berube appeared in 43 games, recording 4 goals, 7 assists, and 119 penalty minutes. He helped the Flyers reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1987 and 1997, but they ultimately fell short both times.

Later Career and Coaching

After leaving Philadelphia, Berube played for several other NHL teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, and Calgary Flames. He retired in 2003 and later embarked on a coaching career. Berube served as an assistant coach for the Flyers from 2006 to 2011, and he was named the team's head coach in 2015. Under his leadership, the Flyers reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.

Craig Berube is remembered as one of the most iconic Flyers players of all time. His physical presence and tough-nosed style of play made him a fan favorite, and he helped the team achieve success on the ice. Berube's contributions to the Flyers organization were recognized in 2012, when he was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame.
